I arrived safely in Kansas and met up with Cathy. We headed to Weston Missouri for the day. There are many quaint shops lining the downtown main street. Treasures in the town ranged from antiques to toys, to clothes to taxidermied (yes, i know my own made up word) bears. Each shop was unique and fun to peruse.
We wanted to eat at Charlemagne's, but it was closed due to overbooking their lunch reservations. That was disappointing for us. Their cuisine of fare was German. Instead, we ate at the Tea Room. The food was delicious. Cole Slaw and BBQ Brisket satisfied our hungry tummys.
The most unusual feature of Weston was the largest ball of string, created by Finley Stephens. It is 19 feet around and 3,712 pounds! Here is a link you can access to read about american oddities. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story
Today we're heading out to photograph the downtown. Stay tuned--be back later!!
Ball of string huh.....come on man you're gonna have to do better than a ball of string.
